Welcome to your online e-portfolio course!
Looking for a job? Applying for a college or scholarship? Need a way to show off your own unique talents, qualities, and skills?
Get ready to make your very own webpage all about you.
This course will lead you through the process of building your own online electronic portfolio that you can use to share important information about yourself with those who need to know.
Just read through the pages and do each of the steps listed. Join the class blog to see what others are doing and share ideas. E-mail your instructor for help and feedback as you go.
Steps:
1 E-mail the instructor to let her know you are starting the e-portfolio class. Join the class blog and introduce yourself.
2 Read the about the Basics of an E-portfolio. Follow the instructions to set up file folders on your desktop to get organized. Check out the Sample site and read over the Rubric to get a clear idea of what you're shooting for in a finished product.
3 Read the Getting Started page and follow the instructions to set up your own webpage. E-mail the instructor and the class blog with the URL (webpage address).
4 Go to Making Your Pages and begin creating your pages. Start with your Home Page to establish the "About Me" bio. E-mail the instructor and the class blog and tell them how you've updated your site.
5 For full participation credit in the class, you need to post at least 5 times to the class blog. Review other students' E-portfolios and give them positive feedback and constructive criticism that will help them make their sites better. Check the class blog after you post to see what others have to say about your E-portfolio. Consider their input as you make improvements and changes to your site.
6 When you've finished all the components of your E-portfolio and think it is ready to officially launch, review the rubric to make sure everything is just right. Then post an official launch announcement to the class blog. Hooray! You did it! Now you can give your E-portfolio URL link to colleges, scholarship committees, and prospective employers. E-mail it to friends and family. Periodically update your site to meet your changing needs in the future. You will especially want to keep the Work Samples, Work History, and About Me sections up to date.
